Training As A Doula
Doulas make a difference in women’s lives as they welcome their precious baby into their family.
How exciting that you are considering becoming a doula. This is a wonderful time to begin your journey
as doulas become more recognized as an integral part of the birthing and parenting team.
Doula Beginnings is proud to present this DONA International approved training, and drawing on local
experience, you will find everything you need to explore the style of doula care you desire to offer.
My training offers a unique opportunity to take advantage of my 30 plus years of experience in a welcome,
nurturing environment. You will have the chance to explore all aspects of the doula role and build a foundation
of inspiration, knowledge and skills to take forward in your work.
Let me share a little more about me and the upcoming training. Here are a few highlights:
- I am the founder of Doula Beginnings and have personally provided support to thousands of families as a doula, childbirth educator, and birth and postpartum doula trainer.
- I draw on the experiences from my ongoing work in a variety of environments and countries.
- I provide ongoing certification and business development support.

| Birth Doula TrainingCourse Description: 3-day workshop which starts your journey by building a foundation in the basics of becoming a birth doula - a knowledgeable, experienced companion who is trained to provide emotional and physical support, encouragement and wisdom for pregnant women and their families. Throughout history, women have supported other women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Learn everything from emotional and physical comfort measures, partner support, how to support a woman through challenging birth experiences and so much more. This course is DONA International approved and qualifies as the first step towards doula certification. Cost: $1,000.
Postpartum Doula TrainingCourse Description: 3-day workshop which starts your journey by building a foundation in the basics of becoming a postpartum doula - a knowledgeable, experienced companion who is trained to support the family after birth, helping them to have the best possible outcomes. Learn about the physical and psychological needs of the postpartum period and development of the newborn. Receive training on breastfeeding skills and support, support of the woman with postpartum depression, support for the partner, fostering bonding, multiples, grief and loss, and the importance of referrals to competent and appropriate professionals and support groups. Training includes educating the family on infant care, newborn characteristics, coping skills and supporting the mother and family. This course is DONA International approved and qualifies as the first step towards doula certification. Cost: $1,000. |
